About Visit Kelso
Formed as a community group in May 2015, Visit Kelso aims to proactively market and promote the town of Kelso and the surrounding areas, to both locals and visitors to The Scottish Borders.
The members’ group was established by local business owners, from a variety of sectors, initially working with Kelso Chamber of Trade.
In 2018 Kelso Chamber of Trade disbanded. Due to the amount of time and effort Visit Kelso invests in promoting our town and surrounding area, the group decided to continue as an independent constituted body.
Promoting the town throughout the year highlighting Kelso as a vibrant place for shopping, eating, staying, taking part in activities or events and using professional services for locals, Borderers and visitors to the region.
Members of Visit Kelso are local business owners, who carry out the majority of the work on a voluntary basis. Happy to do so, knowing that by being part of the group they benefit greatly from the additional energy and effort put into promoting the town.
The main platforms for this promotion are the Visit Kelso website and the social media profiles.
The Visit Kelso website achieves high first-page listing on Google and generates thousands of unique visitors per month, with approximately 25% returning to the sites again and again. The site is continually updated with members’ business listings, events, general ‘on the ground’ news. It truly is the one stop shop for all things Kelso and District related.
The Visit Kelso Facebook and Twitter accounts are updated almost daily with a great variety content that people want to read. This means the engagement through Likes, Comments and Shares is far in excess of that achieved by the majority of official pages. Visit Kelso continues to grow the engagement with a mix of free and paid for adverts, reaching visitors from near and far. It’s all part of the package for Visit Kelso members.
Visit Kelso also work with a broad range of partner organisations, both in the town, for example, the Kelso Laddies Association and the Kelso Community Council and from further afield, like Scottish Borders Council, Destination Scottish Borders, Midlothian and Borders Tourism Action Group. This partnership working ensures the town is represented when decisions are being made in relation to the town and district.
As a members benefit Visit Kelso also posts relevant business news, events & support on Visit Kelso Business on Facebook
Visit Kelso meet every month, rotating meeting venue across members’ business premises, giving them the opportunity to chat with members, hear how business is going and to establish what more Visit Kelso could be doing to further promote the town.

"In 20 years of being in business in Kelso this is the first time that opportunities are being explored with the support of Visit Kelso. It really shows the benefits of all businesses working together to create success. Promoting events and the town in general highlights how busy Kelso is and creates a sense that Kelso is becoming a ‘go to’ destination."
