Kelso Chamber of Trade – Now Visit Kelso

The Kelso Chamber of Trade started in 1935 for the purposes of promoting the successful development of Kelso and District – its business, its people and its environment.

Visit Kelso has superseded Kelso Chamber Trade and is open to businesses, individual traders, event managers, community groups and other persons connected with trading and living in Kelso and the surrounding area.

Visit Kelso was formed in June 2015 as the marketing arm of Kelso Chamber of Trade and our aim is to actively promote Kelso and the surrounding area to locals and visitors alike.

Until this year we were under the umbrella of the Kelso Chamber of Trade, and with the exception of the The Chamber of Trade Chair attending the committee meetings we were more or less self sufficient in driving our cause.

As Visit Kelso we have applied and been successful in securing funding from various sources to help promote the town and district, producing pop up banners, designing and printing leaflets which highlight the town’s events and recently with Leader Funding which has enabled us to employ a marketing expert and social media guru to help give the group focus and direction.

In 2018 the Kelso Chamber of Trade decided to disband and due to the amount of time and effort Visit Kelso has already invested in promoting our town we decided to step out from the shadow and carry on publicising the town and district as our own constituted body. With this in mind we wanted to show that we are a progressive and forward thinking group by holding our first ‘Meet and Greet’ on Thursday 31st of May inviting existing members and community groups to come along and see what we do to benefit the town.  This proved to be a great success in gaining more members to Visit Kelso and two new committee members. We are now looking forward to the new and exciting challenge in which we can promote the town and district. Helping to make Kelso the number one Borders Town!
