Floors Castle and Gardens

Floors Castle is the largest inhabited castle in Scotland and is home to the 11^th Duke of Roxburghe. Construction began in 1721 under the watchful eye of architect William Adam. In the 1830s, the 6th duke commissioned William Playfair to make significant alterations to the exterior. The results of this work make the castle an architectural masterpiece both inside and out.

Visit the Walled Garden, featuring colourful themed borders, decorative shrubs and traditional glass houses filled with delicious fruits. Designed by Jim Marshall, Sarah Marshall and Angel Collins, the stunning Tapestry Garden contains an array of seasonal plants and meandering paths.

Also visit the impressive formal Millennium Parterre before exploring the Woodland and Riverside walks.

Bring your bike and explore the grounds on two wheels when you discover our Cycle Trail. Explore dog friendly walks through the grounds too!

Enjoy the playground, child friendly castle tours, two cafés, as well as the Apple Shed Gift Shop and Deli.

Look out for seasonal fun events and workshops, including open air theatre productions, outdoor concerts and our Summer activity trail.

Floors Castle closes for the season at 5pm on Sunday October 1st. The Gardens, Terrace Cafe and Apple Shed remain open all year round.
